PICORA SYRUP (SODIUM PICOSULPHATE) is a stimulant laxative to be used for treatment in constipation.
Constipation is a non-movement of the waste material produced in the body which is caused by an improper diet where less amount of water is consumed.
PICORA SYRUP (SODIUM PICOSULPHATE) acts by promoting the muscle movement to encourage the bowel to eliminate the waste product from the body. It usually has an effect within 6-12 hours.
MECHANISM OF ACTION
PICORA SYRUP (SODIUM PICOSULPHATE) on oral administration gets activated by the flora present in the large intestine. It then stimulates nerve endings and the muscles in the intestine and the rectum gets contracted in the intestinal wall with encourages peristalsis and forces the waste material to move out hence relieves constipation.
INDICATIONS
- Emptying the bowel prior to surgery, childbirth or radiological investigation of the gut.
- Management of constipation.
