Description

NOIRGAT-P is a combination of gatifloxacin a fluoroquinolone antibacterial and prednisolone, a potent corticosteroid. Gatifloxacin results from inhibition of DNA gyrase and Topoisomerase IV. Prednisolone inhibits the inflammatory mediators. GATIFLOXACIN Gatifloxacin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that is active against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It should be used only to treat or prevent infections that are proven or strongly suspected to be caused by bacteria. INDICATION: – NOIRGAT-P Eye Drop is used in the treatment of severe allergic reaction, allergic disorders, asthma, rheumatic disorder, skin disorders, eye disorders and nephrotic syndrome. Gatifloxacin-Prednisolone ophthalmic suspension is indicated for steroid-responsive inflammatory ocular conditions for which a corticosteroid is indicated and where bacterial infection or a risk of bacterial ocular infection exists. Ocular steroids are indicated in inflammatory conditions of the palpebral and bulbar conjunctiva, cornea and anterior segment of the globe where the inherent risk of steroid use in certain infective conjunctivitis is accepted to obtain a diminution in oedema and inflammation. They are also indicated in chronic anterior uveitis and corneal injury from chemical radiation or thermal burns or penetration of foreign bodies. Prednisolone acetate is indicated for the short-term treatment of steroid-responsive inflammatory conditions of the eyes, after excluding the presence of viral, fungal and bacterial pathogens in adults. The use of a combination drug with an anti-infective component is indicated where the risk of infection is high or where there is an expectation that potentially dangerous numbers of bacteria will be present in the eyes. The combination can also be used for post-operative inflammation and any other ocular inflammation associated with infection.
